Sète #16 is a collaborative book made by Nicolás Wormull, Tomás Quiroga, Paula Lopez and Cristóbal Olivares during a residence in the city of Sète in southern France for the Images Singulières Festival. June 2015.
"I went on a journey. I left Sète on board a ferry with the intention of photographing the city from the outside. The kind of journey a lot of emigrants go on in search of a better life. But their abandon of their homeland cannot be compared to mine; I can enter and leave, and return. They cannot. During this journey, I came across people who were crossing the strait of Gibraltar for the first time and others who regularly did so. I wanted to meet people who, from their own horizons, take a look at those of others. Upon my return, Sète and its inhabitants were no longer the same. I had learnt the importance of living in a place and being aware of shortly having to abandon it. I observed its faces, I collected its memories, and I left".
